Credit Repair Scams Archives

Yeah, I know that everyone says its mostly a scam. I had the name of someone who does credit repair recommended to me. I’ve read the "watch out for X,Y,Z…" and she seems as though she’s disclosed everything fully and legally and not made any pie in the sky promises.

My question is this.. Has anyone here ever worked with a credit repair agency and had positive or even great results? If so what did they do for you and how much did you spend?

Please don’t answer by saying no it’s a scam because they’re taking money from people to do something they could do themselves. I live in a society where I wouldn’t need any of you if I did everything myself, I know I can do this myself, but I’m paying someone to do it because I don’t want to. So the question is whether it works/how effective they have been for credit repair.

Thanks!
bdancer222 you have me cracking up! Point well made, and btw I might just take you up on that shirt offer!

A friend has some late payments and some old credit card bills as well as an incorrect item on her credit. How can this be repaired. She does not have the funds for an attorney and those companies that claim to "repair bad credit" are sometimes a scam. Help me to help her.

Hi, I am trying to find a good credit repair company to get a home loan. I have spoken to someone at Performance Financial Solutions and Homepointe Financial? Anyone have any experience with either one? Are they scams? Thanks in advance! :)

We all know that the 30 day credit repair for 0 deal is a scam.

But one question stated that his credit union person offered him this.
Are banks now running this scam?
He did delete the question after I asked if this was one of those little signs OUTSIDE his credit union. But I could have been wrong.
Are banks now runnning these scams?

I am trying to raise my credit score quickly. Right now I am at 593-around 650 depending on agency. So, by paying off the 5 credit cards that I currently have(some with amounts ranging from 1,500-2,500), should that raise my credit score a great deal? If not, will a credit repair company help or are they just a scam?

I have this project for economics class and I can’t seem to find the answer. Like how can you know if a credit repair company is real or just a scam.

I am conducting research on credit restoration/repair companies and scam artists. Anyone who reads my posts knows that I am a proponent of credit restoration. And I support using the three legitimate credit restoration companies in the US. But I would like to hear of any experiences people have had with others. I do not want to hear about Lexington Law. I already have mountains of data on them, and not much of it good. I want to hear about all the others out there. Let me know who you used and what the results were. People who only want to post that credit repair is a scam, please do waste my time with your uneducated claptrap, I want legitimate answers only please.
Thank you for your answer, Rose. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question.

Lydia, I am in agreement with most of your answer, but I was just wondering what question are you answering? You posted it in the wrong place. Your answer has nothing to do with my question.
